Health Foodie

Don't tell me you wouldn't watch those shows just for these guys.

It’s summer and I’m a stay at home mom. This means diapering, playing, working out, cooking and cleaning to the tune of Cupcake Wars, Rocco’s Dinner Party and Last Cake Standing marathons. I really can’t say just why I’m so into those shows, but maybe it’s something to do with the hosts..

Anyway, in watching these shows I realized how difficult it can be to both maintain a healthy diet and be a foodie. Really, there is nothing healthy about a cupcake. Except the smiles and baked-in giggles. Smiles and giggles are very good for you. Sugar, fat and a whole bunch of sodium? Not so much.

That’s the problem though, isn’t it? Lots of the most awesome foods are chock full of fat, sodium and sugar that we really don’t need. So what’s a foodie to do?

Now I won’t say I’m like, the ultimate foodie. I haven’t been to every Zagat rated spot in OC (or even many at all, really), and I don’t think I’ve ever had duck confit. However, I do love food, from texture to taste, presentation to pairing. I’d like to combine that with my healthy and fitness goals, and I’d love to share that with you.

We are lucky that we’re in a time where so-called “health food” is making a comeback in the form of fresh, sustainable eats and restaurants, so I’m keeping my eyes out for them. I’ll be sharing unique, healthy recipes, great eateries, healthy cookbooks and more! But I need your help, too. If you find something you think I should check out or share, please please please send it on over (and you’ll be credited for the find, of course)! I’m also opening this up to guest posts, so if you’d like to write a post, make sure to include “Guest Post” in the header of your email. You can share by emailing me at:

Make sure you include your name, website and a link with any other information you think I might need.

I’m really excited to start sharing what I find, and I can’t wait to hear from all of you!
