  19. My grandmother passed away in February. Then my aunt, uncles, and my pops split up the estate, and my dad ended up with the house, which he then handed to me and said, “Okay, son, here you go. Rent out the rooms and manage a home.” I’ve spent the last few weeks cleaning out the house. There’s a lot to clean out– cabinets to empty, drawers to go through, closets to clean, etc.. I’ve found a bunch of pictures from when my aunt, uncles, and father were tykes. Before they moved into this house in ’56 they lived in Buena Park across the street from what was then Knott’s Orchards and berry fields. I found two pictures in particular. One is of my grandfather crouched down playing with my father who’s standing on an empty Knott’s crate, which they used to harvest and collect berries in. The other is of my aunt walking home from school. Behind her can be seen a few tractors dozing fields for what is soon to be the east side of the theme park.

Also, I liked your blog a lonnnnggg time ago, too. (Don’t do the Twitter thing, though…)

  22. What I love most about Knott’s is the funnel cake after a long day of waiting in lines, riding roller coasters, walking in the sun and laughing with friends, and playing the “carnival games” (I’m a sucker for the prizes at the basketball hoops).

I’ve been to Knott’s before (for Halloween, and a few times in the past). Definitely love the latest additions as far as roller coasters go. Whoever wins, hope you have a blast! (And if I win, I hope to drag a few of you with me for a fun day out, heh).

  23. Don’t laugh – but the creamy chicken noodle soup. Of course I have not had it there since I was a kid but I loved theirs and I generally hate creamy soups.

  24. I liked your blog as Kia Ru
