Week 12: I’m Totally Jinxing Myself By Writing This

July 25, 2010 · 1 comment

In what seems to be Mother Nature’s greatest show of mercy, I’m approaching the second trimester and I’ve already noticed a marked improvement in my general comfort. And by that I mean my boobs don’t hurt anymore and I feel like I can hold things down. Seriously, it’s a lovely feeling to want to eat again. That and I’ve learned that taking the prenatals before bed vs. taking them in the morning really helps.

To the rest of you pregos, you are TOTALLY welcome.

However, other fun little things have started to pop up like these really crazy, vivid dreams. There was one occasion this week where I had to ask a coworker if I had dreamed a particular situation or it really happened. It turned out that I had in fact dreamed it.

Also, I’ve learned the hard way that I should really ease up on the psych thrillers, zombie flicks, and scary movies before bed.

In the meantime, I’m feeling a lot more motivated to cook and prepare more foods for myself and the family. I’m experimenting more with raw foods (fruits & vegetables, obviously), and it’s really helped me keep up with eating right, plus it’s delicious. Seriously. That and it’s just easier to stomach foods that haven’t been processed beyond recognition.

All in all, things are going well. My dancin’ shoes are calling to me again and I’m getting the itch, so I think I’ll be making my way back to the dance floor soon (finally!!!). Since I’m not nearly as fatigued as I have been for the last few weeks, this sounds pretty reasonable. I wish I could say there are tons of other interesting things going down in my life right now, but aside from having traffic court for a speeding ticket this week (my first, y’all – should I fight it? should I sit back and say nothing? should I paint “f*ck you” on my nails and cry?), and being amped on a Famous Footwear BOGO (don’t know if it’s online only, but I’m all over it – perfect for you mamavators looking for some new kicks for keeping in shape!), the baby is definitely the most exciting thing to share.

**UPDATE** Use the discount code STUDENT1 for another 20% off on the FF sale. And thanks to @psiclne for the info!

By the way, the ultrasound picture in the header is my little bug at 8 weeks, 5 days! It has a perfect little heartbeat, by my estimation in the 140-150 bpm range and by that point it didn’t have too much of a tail left. And my mom insists it was waving at her.

It’s pretty crazy how excited she is to be a nana. Seriously, she started signing her texts “nana.” It wouldn’t be that weird, except she never added a signature at the ends of her texts before.

Anyway, yes, it’s a whole lotta baby up in here, and I’d apologize, but I promise it’s more interesting than talking about Toby’s refusal to snuggle with me. Which is seriously a huge bummer because it makes me feel worlds better to have a little homie to snuggle up with when I randomly wake up at 3 in the morning.

I do have a really big favor to ask of you guys, though. If I ever get like this, make me stop.

Please and thank you.

I look forward to your blogs here on the interwebz, but this one had me saying “Omfg… YESS!!” at the end! Thank you for the video! I’m glad I’m not alone for thinking a lot of pregnant women become smug and righteously holy about their pregnancies. I say these things with all due respect to you, but sometimes, the world just does not revolve around one woman’s occupied uterus, haha! Love to you, Resa, and your growing little peanut :o)
