Fitcation 2012 in Review

It’s been a week since Fitcation, I know, but as a one-mom-show, it took all that time to recuperate (and I’m STILL not quite all together again). But I DO have to tell you about how great my experience was, because it was fantastic to finally meet all these amazing moms that I’ve known for so long without actually knowing.

So we arrived at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village on Thursday, and can I just say WHOA, luxe! I was particularly fond of their aquarium (okay, so I flipped out about this aquarium) and this chandelier.

But the best part was getting to our rooms. GORGEOUS! Seriously, I wanted to take the bathtub home with me.

Our luxe accommodations, including a lovely welcome treat from the California Health & Longevity Institute.

So we had a lovely slumber party to kick the weekend off, replete with a fantastic, gluten free Mediterranean meal, lots of sustainable wine, and Coco Breve (you’re going to start noticing a trend pretty soon here, by the way).

Also, Mr. Bookieboo tried out Shannon’s TRX. At the party. Because that’s how we roll.

Playing with HairWe also snuck off to each other’s rooms to dye our hair whack-a-doo colors (pink, purple, and a lovely aquamarine were the colors du jour).

And then the morning came, which meant it was time for the first workout. And the first workout was with Fit Body Boot Camp. In. Tense. Seriously, I had sweat dripping off of my face after 20 minutes, and it was only a 30 minute workout.
Only. *collapses*

But seriously, I think I speak for everyone that worked out when I say we felt that workout for the entire weekend.

Fortunately, the rest of the day was spent at the Dole Institute, learning about nutrition & health, and trying SO much great stuff in the test kitchen.

We then got a tour of the California Health & Longevity Institute, but that’s a post for another time, because it was really just so beautiful. And then we were treated to a cooking lesson with Alysa Bajenaru (@InspiredRD), more Coco Breve & wine, and of course, each others’ company at the Segedies’ home.

Mark and the Ladies

The next day started off with my new favorite workout EVER, Hoopnotica! It’s hula hoop dancing. And fitness. TOGETHER! It was a lot of fun, and honestly, it’s something I could see myself getting certified to teach.

The rest of that day was spent taking a bus tour of Los Angeles, and we checked out Venice Beach, Santa Monica, El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a beautiful overlook with a fantastic view of the Hollywood sign and the Hollywood Bowl.

We finished off the night at Marrakesh, a Moroccan restaurant in Studio City, at which we were treated to incredible food, more wine, and an all-around great experience. My favorite part? The belly dancing! I’m pretty sure I remember a few singles getting stuffed into my shirt, but we don’t talk about that…

Our final morning started with yoga, led by Kia (@bodhi_bear), and it was the perfect wrap up to the trip!

And before I forget, I have to thank the AMAZING sponsors, namely Dole for our gorgeous accommodations at the Four Seasons, Leading Lady Bras for our fantastic evening at Marrakesh, Sip the Good Life for all the wine, and New Balance for the AWESOME shoes.

Thank you all for making this experience fantastic- I can’t wait for Fitcation ’13!

Fitcation was sponsored by Dole, Four Seasons Westlake Village, the California Health and Longevity Institute, Sip the Good Life, New Balance, Subway and Leading Lady Bras. These sponsors provided the attendees with lodging, meals, activities and product during the event. As an attendee, I was asked to give my honest opinion and all opinions are 100% my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of these organizations.
