#Mamavation Monday: Taking it Easy

The last few weeks have been crazy. CRAZY. These are just a few of the things I’ve been up to:

That’s not to mention all the stuff I haven’t written about yet. Life. Crazy.

So this week, I took it a little easier and focused on Cameron, my clients, and connecting with other people because it’s something I’ve struggled with as a new parent. My weekend was still crazy, but I’m taking baby steps to not overloading my agenda and thus far I’m already doing a lot better than I have historically.

As far as fitness goes, I’ve been doing Nike Training Center app workouts every other day, and WOW are they effective. I didn’t run last week (super bad, I know), but my knees are thanking me this week.

Menu planning has helped me SO much with eating well and snacking healthy, because snacking and not getting enough water are my greatest weaknesses, especially when I’m spending a lot of time around the house. It also may have helped that there was a veggie platter in the fridge the whole week. Kind of a smart idea, actually, and I think I might do so more often: if you don’t have time to portion out veggies and fruits (or it’s just something you don’t get around to because HOMUHGAH not another thing to add to the domestic agenda), fruit & veggie party platters are a pretty great alternative to keep in the fridge and pull out when you’re ready for a snack.

Also I’ve been snacking on these fantastic cocoa roasted almonds (homemade, super tasty) that are SUPER simple to make. I make big batches of them and keep them in little Gladware containers that I can grab on the go (or keep in the car because that’s just how I do). I also like to add a little cayenne and cinnamon to the recipe for a little kick of flavor and a boost to the metabolism. It’s a big win all around.

So I want to know how you keep snacking in check. What kind of snacks do you like to keep around?

  1. Love that idea about the veggie and fruit platter, I will have to try it! And 2 5ks? You are a crazy lady ;) Have a great week :)

  2. Nut Thins, herbed + spiced nuts, nut butter with fruit, and kale or seaweed chips are some of my go-tos.  See ya next month!

  3. I see you are organizing your life. Please share details, as I need more organization on mine…

  4. I commend you on trying to tackle so much at once but organizing your ENTIRE life AND a 5K?  Lady, don’t burn out!  Maybe take little steps at a time :-)

I love your idea of keeping a fruit/veggie platter on hand. Normally, we don’t think about those things other than for parties. It’s a great idea for those of us (ok me) who are lazy too!
