So last night I got to enjoy an evening out with friends, starting off with some bomb sushi teppan action at Matsu right here in Huntington Beach. SO great – after living here for 8 years, Id never tried the place and I have SO been missing out.
A number one- dinner and a show. Serious. I wish I were that enjoyable to watch cooking. I mean, I dance when I cook, but thats not nearly as cool as onion volcanos and flaming shrimp. I think you kinda have to be there to really enjoy the magic.
B number 2- the fooooood… Theres so much food- thank god I shared with Jare-bear. Seriously, I would not have made a dent. Started off with a crunch roll – amazing – and had the fried rice with the chicken new York steak teppan goodness. Im not usually one for chicken (or at least not lately) but gdamn! Everything was great- next time, Im getting the scallops. Mmmm mm. Those were a-mazing. Fried rice = killer, steak = bomb, and the veggies.. So much veggie action, and I love my veggies. Yummmm.
C number 3- the scorpion. Rums of god knows how many sorts, apparently vodka, and Im guessing OJ. In a scallop bowl. We couldnt finish it between 2 of us. Can I just say yayyyyy for DDs?? Yep. That good.
Overall? Great service, great food, great drinks, and an overall good time with friends. Good for a date, night out, etc. Not my first pick for an intimate convo, though. At least not at the teppan tables.
So next stop was karaoke at the Rebel Room in Westminster. I love this place because the drinks are strong cheap, the crowd is fun, and the karaoke is serious business. And it inflates my ego a little. Heh. Good times.
Finished off the night at my sisters place just to say hi. Caught a little monster house (awful movie… Seriously. WTF?), got back to Long Beach and realized that my keys probably fell out of my purse at Matsu.. Fail.
Regardless, it was SUCH a fun night. After such a crazy week, I think I really needed that. To top it all of, I hit up Dog Beach in Huntington with my sister and Jare-bear.. Yep. Im having an awesome weekend
