Salsa Video

One of my super-mega-awesome teammates took a video of my partner/co-captain and me dancing the first section of our teams routine. He was also kind enough to send it to me. YAY! I’ve seen a video or 2 of myself social dancing, but it’s been a while and I’d like to think I’ve improved significantly since that point. Video really helps with honing in on strengths and weaknesses. It’s one thing to see yourself in a mirror. It’s something completely different to see yourself from a lens. Thus I was really excited to see how my partner and I look, figure out what we’re doing well and what we can do to bring those strengths to the parts that need more work.

SOOOOOOOOoooo with no further ado, here is the video of my partner, Diego, & me dancing salsa section 1 of our routine, choreographed by the incredible Andy Tran.

That looks like a blast! I always tell myself I’m going to sign up for a dance class of some kind but I’ve yet to pull the trigger. Love the epic front kick at 0:27. And you ended the video too soon – I was curious to see how you recovered from that sliiiiide

It is a blast- just do it! I know that out here there are TONS of clubs where cover includes lessons (and cover is really low – like $10 and under low), plus there’s open dancing afterwards. I have my doubts that the salsa scene is as big in the midwest, but then again, the East Coast is like, hot ballroom HQ.

I wish I could say getting up from the slide is super glamorous, but that’s a transition into a tango section, so the girl gets picked up by her partner and led around the back.

The concept of the whole routine is WAY fun, and you can definitely anticipate clips of the whole piece soon. :)
